After winning his 2004 Olympic title in a then world record-equalling time, Liu went on to claim world gold in 2007 and the world indoor 60m hurdles title in 2008. Liu broke the world record in 2006 with 12.88, a time that sees him sit third on the world 110m hurdles all-time list behind Aries Merritt and Dayron Robles.
He is the first Chinese athlete to achieve the “triple crown” of athletics: World Record Holder, World Champion and Olympic Champion.
A cultural icon while known for his low-profile appearance he is an all round Chinese hero and has been sponsored by Nike and Coca-Cola.
Having never competed in 100m he has featured in 4x100m relays and Genuine Pace estimates his 100m time at around 10.30s.
