10.20s – Political Pace Setter

Sir Walter Menzies Campbell CH CBE QC MP, often known as Ming Campbell, is our first Politician to feature on Genuine Pace. A British Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Fife, he is the former Leader of the Liberal Democrats.

It’s his career as a sprinter which earns him the vote for Genuine Pace, having held the British record for the 100 metres sprint from 1967 to 1974, with a PB of 10.20s. He also captained the Great Britain athletics team in 1965 and 1966. He is currently the Chancellor of the University of St Andrews.
